I've always disregarded Tomb Raider as being popular solely because it has an attractive female main character who was (obviously) popular with teenage boys in the 90s. This was an unfortunate mistake, as it's actually a tonne of fun. The main complaints i hear are usually directed towards the controls, which is understandable if you played them before the rise of online guides. Being able to access databases like tombraiders.net that explain the function of a running jump and standing jump in detail shifts what would be a potentially confusing, frustrating experience to an extremely rewarding one. Having this understanding makes every jump definitive - there's no over or undershooting. If you can make it, you will. Unless you mess up.
